There are many SEO ranking and competitor analysis tools on the market. Measuring and comparing your SEO efforts (that’s content and technical elements and authority) against your local competitors is a good way of understanding where you need to be spending your time and effort and budget.
Affordable SEO Tools
The problem with so many SEO ranking and competitor tools is the entry price and the lack of data on competitors outside the US. Affordable, accurate SEO tools that work in Europe are few and far between.
You may have that dilemma of wanting and potentially benefitting from using SEO ranking and competitor tools, but not being able to justify the financial outlay.

But if you wish to incorporate this information with the backlinks of your competitors pages that out ranked you. Then you want to know who the authors of the posts were and get their contact details. I’ll use a different tool.
And if you’ve got a good SEO ranking tool, and your interested in researching and tagging your pages as entities (rather than keywords), I’ll use a different platform.

This sometimes puts your own efforts into perspective. Every backlink that promotes these pages through linking is monitored and when new they get a new link you’ll know about it. Can you get your content published there as well?
